How Ball Mill Works?

November 20, 2008

A ball mill operates by rotating a cylinder with steel grinding balls as media, for the ball to fall back into the cylinder and onto the material to the ground. The rotation is usually between 4 to 20 revolutions per minute, depending upon the diameter of the mill. The larger the diameter is, the slower the rotation will be. If the peripheral of the mill is too great, it begins to act like a centrifuge and the balls do not fall back, but stay on the perimeter of the mill.

ball mill

July 25, 2008

Ball mill is an efficient tool for fine powder grinding. The ball mill is used to grind many kinds of mine and other materials, or to select the mine. Ball mill is widely used in building material, chemical industry, etc. There are two ways of grinding: the dry way and the wet way. It can be divided into tabular type and flowing type according to different expelling mine.

Detailed information of Ball Mill

To use the ball Mill, the material to be ground is loaded into the Neoprene barrel which contains grinding media. As the barrel rotates, the material is crushed and ground to fine powder due to friction and squeeze between material and grinding media over a period of several hours.
It is obvious that the longer the ball mill runs, the smaller the powder will be. Final particle size depends entirely on how hard the ground material is, and how long the ball mill runs. Our ball mills have been being used to grind glass, make ceramic glaze, powder various chemicals.
